IRIS Behind the Scenes

IRIS regularly invites the community behind the scenes to learn more about the music on each concert program and the process of preparing it for performance. Audience members praise these pre-concert educational events as excellent and very instructional.

 

Wednesday Night Concert Preview

Taught by Jamey Lamar, these two-hour classes provide a relaxed way to learn about the music on the upcoming IRIS program. Special guests include Artistic Director Michael Stern, soloists, and members of the IRIS Orchestra. The classes are held in the GPAC Green Room from 7-9 p.m. Refreshments are served.

Pre-Concert Conversation

Presentations about the evenings program, led by Jamey Lamar, take place in the Black Box of GPAC at 7 p.m. prior to each IRIS concert and are free to ticket holders. Special guests may include the evenings Guest Artist and Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Michael Stern.

Friday Live Lunch

Produced in conjunction with WKNO-FM 91.1, this popular live broadcast provides a unique behind-the-scenes perspective on the workings of a professional orchestra as Music Director, Michael Stern rehearses IRIS for the upcoming concert. Broadcast on 91.1 FM on the Friday prior to each IRIS concert between 12 and 1 p.m.
