André Watts has been dazzling audiences for five decades. His first appearance with IRIS, in Beethovens monumental last piano concerto, brings the season to a stunning close. This program showcases the range of musical inspiration: a clever piece by distinguished American composer John Harbison was sparked by the chance discovery of a pedagogical chart in an Italian music notebook; while Faurés rapturous incidental music to Masques et bergamasques pays homage to the aristocratic court dances of the18th century.
