ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Jil Aigrot was raised in Cannes, France, and at an early age began studying music, specializing in French Song. After performing in theater for several years, she came to be particularly interested in Light Opera, and Aigrot's reputation grew with appearances on the popular French television shows Qui Est Qui and C'est L'ete, which lead to a role as a singer on Remington Steele with Pierce Brosnan.

Additional acting and singing roles ensued- in the famed Dell'Arte Cie in Nice, stage performances of La Rue, Brel Est Vivant, Il Habite aux Marquieses at the Avignon Festival, Les Enchantees, Sur La Butte and a special tribute to Jacques Brel.

Discovered by Ginou Richer, a close friend of Edith Piaf, Jil Aigrot has was chosen to be the voice of singing legend Edith Piaf in the movie La Mome (known in the U.S. as La Vie En Rose) directed by Olivier Dahan.

In the superb program, all of the great Piaf classics are not only relived, but given a special magic with Aigrot's stunning voice. Audiences around the world will no doubt recognize and enjoy the great songs of Piaf all over again. Songs like L'Hymne A l'Amour, L'Accordioniste, Flan, Flan du Bal and the eternal Non, je ne regrette rien.

When Jil sings, it is not just another voice of the sparrow, as Piaf was called.  She brings a modern energy, giving the old songs new life. It is indeed unusual to hear a modern voice reinventing these classics. Jil Aigrot is passionate and magnificent in concert in her homage to Edith Piaf.
