Join us for the artist reception for Reflections on Beauty from 5:30-7:30pm in the GPAC lobby before the Moscow Festival Ballet performance. Paintings by Matthew Lee will be on display in the GPAC Lobby Gallery from April 10 - May 9, 2018 and can be viewed during normal business hours (M-F from 10-5pm).
Matthew Lee is a painter who primarily enjoys working directly from life, whether it is creating a “plein air” landscape in the the hills of Provence, or a charcoal portrait sketch of a friend in Memphis, TN where he currently lives. His paintings are often about creating an immediate connection with nature, capturing the essence of the light, forms, and feeling of a place or subject. Paintings are usually created on site in one to three sessions, and then larger studio paintings may be developed from these. Matthew was born in Paris, France. He spent his childhood mostly in France where his parents served as missionaries, with furloughs in Mississippi. The rich culture and artistic heritage of France were deeply imprinted on his life. He attended a boarding school for High School in Germany, and earned a degree in architecture from Mississippi State University. He practiced architecture full time for 22 years prior to launching an art business. For more information visit matthewleestudio.com
