*Two performances - 2:00 PM and 4:30 PM
Join us for an afternoon of delightful and inspiring music featuring the talented students from the GPAC Youth Symphony Program. The concert will highlight all of the program's ensembles and will celebrate the joy and excitement of coming together to play after a year of distant and virtual rehearsals due to the ongoing pandemic. Musical selections will include pieces for string orchestra, wind ensemble, and chamber orchestra that highlight both historical composers (including Mendelssohn, Hindemith, Grainger, and Tchaikovsky) and contemporary composers (including John Mackey and Steven Bryant). While the diverse compositional styles of these composers create unique musical experiences for performers and audiences alike, they all exemplify the belief that music is as important as ever in its vital role in both naming the unnamable feelings of isolation and providing hope and space to dream and imagine again.
