WATKINS STUDIO THEATER
This performance will present audiences with a variety of traditional flamenco music and dance styles born in Spain 500 years ago and performed throughout the world today. Performers will explore flamenco rhythms through percussion instruments such as cajón, castanets, and the dancer’s own feet and hands! A live flamenco guitar will accompany the dance performance, and the audience will experience the firsthand excitement of this ancient Spanish art form. They will shout, “¡Olé, olé, olé!”
Now in its 28th season, this program introduces children ages 8 and under to a variety of genres including music, dance, and multicultural arts in an informal concert setting. Parents and children are invited to move and groove in these highly interactive performances held on scheduled Saturdays in the Watkins Studio Theater or Duncan-Williams Performance Hall. Tickets are Pay What You Can!
