From its beginning, the Verve Jazz Ensemble has been motivated by a desire to address a common complaint among jazz followers: too many jazz artists play music to which the mainstream audience can’t relate. As VJE leader Josh Feldstein puts it, “Our band strives to appeal to everyone from people in their twenties, who know nothing about bebop, to people in their eighties who grew up in the swing era.”

The VJE (www.verve-jazz.com) plays an assortment of great jazz standards, Latin jazz, and original compositions drawn from their five Top Ten albums, including the band’s number one JazzWeek album from 2018, Connect the Dots. The group’s newest recording, Night Mode, spent six weeks in JazzWeek’s Top Ten.
