Terrance Simien, two-time Grammy-winning artist and 8th-generation Louisiana Creole, has been shattering the myths about what his indigenous zydeco roots music is—and is not—for 40 years. Leading his Zydeco Experience bandmates, Simien has become one of the most respected and accomplished artists in American roots music today. He and his band have performed over 9000 concerts and toured millions of miles to over 45 countries during their eventful careers.
Joining Terrance for this special show is his daughter Marcella Simien. Confident, composed, and courageous, Marcella Simien is a bona fide artist in her own right with musical wisdom beyond her years. As legendary record producer and owner of Royal Studios Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell puts it, “Marcella is one of the most soulful artists I've heard since the glory days of Memphis soul music. Her sound and stage presence are constant reminders that soul music is still alive and well.”
This performance is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Tennessee Arts Commission.
